Happy October, CAA friends! Each month, we publish a Spanish post by guest author Claudia Marimón to highlight AAC work being done in Spanish-speaking countries and offer translations of material that can help families and service providers. In today’s post, Claudia shares information about AAC Awareness Month and the ISAAC virtual AAC conference that will be held later this month.

Bienvenido Octubre el Mes Internacional de Concientización sobre CAA fue establecido por el Comité del Proyecto LEAD de ISAAC en octubre de 2007. Trece países participaron en el primer Mes de Concientización y los eventos han ido aumentando en número y alcance desde entonces.
Cada mes de octubre se celebra en todo el mundo el Mes Internacional de Concientización sobre la CAA. El objetivo es crear conciencia sobre la comunicación aumentativa y alternativa (CAA) e informar al público sobre las diferentes formas en que las personas se comunican utilizando dispositivos de comunicación.
Este año la comunidad hispano hablante tiene la posibilidad de participar en diversos eventos que se realizan durante este mes, en español o con traducción a español.
III Jornadas de Actualización en Comunicación Aumentativa Alternativa
Por tercer año consecutivo se realizan las Jornadas de Actualización en Comunicación Aumentativa Alternativa (CAA). La Carrera de Fonoaudiología de la Universidad del Desarrollo se suma a estas actividades invitando a estas jornadas gratuitas, cuyo objetivo es crear conciencia sobre las diferentes herramientas y estrategias utilizadas por las personas para resolver sus retos comunicativos cotidianos, junto con entregar información y promover estrategias innovadoras en la investigación, la tecnología y la alfabetización a través de los sistemas de comunicación aumentativa y alternativa.
Vibes of AAC Evento virtual de ISAAC 2024
Un increíble evento virtual de ISAAC en línea durante el Mes de Concientización sobre CAA 2024.
El evento de dos días, con sesiones programadas para el 29 y 30 de octubre, es la oportunidad de aprender y mantenerse actualizado en el campo de la CAA. Nuestras sesiones serán dirigidas por muchos presentadores reconocidos y prestigiosos, incluidos investigadores, profesionales, personas que usan CAA, educadores, familias, proveedores patrocinadores y mucho más.
La inscripción para el evento virtual incluye acceso a todas las sesiones en vivo sesiones e incluye acceso a la grabación durante los seis meses posteriores al evento.

Welcome October International AAC Awareness Month was established by the ISAAC LEAD Project Committee in October 2007. Thirteen countries participated in the first AAC Awareness Month and events have been increasing in number and scope since then.
Every October, International AAC Awareness Month is celebrated around the world. The goal is to raise awareness about augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and inform the public about the different ways people communicate using communication devices.
This year the Spanish-speaking community has the possibility of participating in various events that take place during this month, in Spanish or with translation into Spanish.
III Update Conference on Alternative Augmentative Communication
For the third consecutive year, the Update Conference on Alternative Augmentative Communication (AAC) is held. The Speech Therapy Career at the Universidad del Desarrollo joins these activities by inviting these free sessions, whose objective is to raise awareness about the different tools and strategies used by people to solve their daily communication challenges, along with providing information and promoting innovative strategies. in research, technology and literacy through augmentative and alternative communication systems.
Vibes of AAC ISAAC 2024 Virtual Event
An amazing online ISAAC virtual event during AAC Awareness Month 2024.
The two-day event, with sessions scheduled for October 29 and 30, is the opportunity to learn and stay up-to-date in the field of AAC. Our sessions will be led by many well-known and prestigious presenters, including researchers, practitioners, people who use AAC, educators, families, sponsoring providers, and more.
Registration for the virtual event includes access to all live sessions and includes access to the recording for six months following the event.
