AAC Handouts from ASHA 2015
A- A+

Traveling to conferences to hear about new developments in AAC is always re-energizing. Here are some of the handouts from ASHA’s 2015 Convention in Denver. (FYI – There is an alternate link at the bottom if you have trouble accessing individual handouts.)

  1. AAC for the Generalist: When, Where, & What to Explore by Lisa Martin and Meghan Shank
  2. Getting to the Core of Core Vocabulary: AAC Implementation Strategies for Caregivers & SLPs  by Sara Barnhill, Meghan Danowski, and Barbara Lent
  3. Outcomes of AAC Acquisition in Pediatric Intensive Speech Model: A Case Study by Heather McDaniel and Teresa Ankney
  4. Using Client Interests to Facilitate Success in AAC & Intervention by Bethany Diener
  5. Progress Monitoring Strategies for Children With Complex Communication Needs Who Use AAC by Janet Dodd

Please note that downloads of ASHA Conference handouts may only be available for a limited time. If you are unable to access the links, you can see all of them in a single document here.

Help! When I click on the link for the presentation handouts, I get a message that the file is not found/has been moved– for all of them. Is it just my computer? Is anyone else having difficulty accessing these documents? Thanks! ?

Hi! I love the Children’s Hospital of Richmond handout “recipes for success”. This is exactly what we have been trying to construct as SLPS at my school but it is VERY time consuming. How/Where can I access more of those Core Vocabulary “recipes”?

Bethany, have you tried the AAC Language Lab by PRC? They have a lot of wonderful resources, some of which are free. 🙂

    Hi Bethany,
I’m one of the SLPs on the CHoR team. I’d be happy to send you more recipes! Just email me at sgbarnhill@chva.org and I can reply with attachments.
    Cheers, Sara
